Roadside Reserves: A touring attraction

0 thumbs up | Rate it

If you think of country roads and roadsides as home to nothing more than a few motley old trees, think again!  Nation-wide, the network of winding bitumen, dirt tracks and roadsides covers in excess of 1.6 mill km’s which offers a significant conservation upside- 1.6 mill km’s of remnant vegetation.

Often the only original vegetation left in a sparse over-cleared landscape. Couple this with the environmental threat that climate change presents and every little remnant helps!

In Moorabool roadside reserves provide sites for the preservation of fragile habitats, rare plants and corridors for wildlife. Whether you’re staying, day tripping or want to pop your bike on a train for a ride in the country, there are numerous touring routes through these reserves (and parks) just waiting to be discovered.

We suggest

The best alternative is to grab a bike, don a helmet and hit the road on one of Moorabool’s ‘Road Less Travelled Tours’. You’ll see so much more.

Come and tour some of the region’s more ‘unusual’ scenic routes (and endangered habitats) and take one of the roads less travelled
